The New York Islanders returned home to a rowdy UBS Arena on Tuesday night and extended their winning streak to three games with a 7-2 triumph over the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Zach Parise, Hudson Fasching, Cal Clutterbuck (2G, 1A), Simon Holmstrom, Noah Dobson (ENG, A) and Anders Lee (1G, 1A) scored for the Islanders, who scored seven goals for a second time this season - and first since the second game of the season.
Sam Lafferty and Mitch Marner scored for the Maple Leafs.
With the win, the Islanders (82 points) kept the first wild card in the Eastern Conference, three points ahead of the Florida Panthers (79 points) and four points up on the Pittsburgh Penguins (78 points). In the process, the Isles improved to 10 games over NHL .500 for the first time this season.

1st Period:
11:01 - TOR 1, NYI 0 - Timothy Liljegren's shot from the half wall deflects off Scott Mayfield and Sam Lefferty before beating Ilya Sorokin as the Leafs open the scoring. Bobby McMann with the secondary assist.
2nd Period:
0:28 - NYI 1, TOR 1 - Zach Parise ties the score with his 19th of the season during a stretch of 4-on-4. Scott Mayfield circles the net and dishes across the crease to Parise for a backdoor play. JG Pageau picks up the secondary assist.

13:50 - NYI 2, TOR 1 - Timothy Liljegren fans on a pass deep in the Leafs' zone and Hudson Fasching pounces on it, skates to the net and beats Ilya Samsonov far side.

17:26 - NYI 3, TOR 1 - Cal Clutterbuck cuts across the high slot and deflects a Ryan Pulock shot past Samsonov. Casey Cizikas doesn't get credited with an assist, but set the play in motion with a hit on David Kampf to force a turnover.

3rd Period:
3:29 - NYI 3, TOR 2 - Auston Matthews feeds Mitch Marner in the slot for a one-timer, as Marner records his 90th point of the season. Marner has 16 points (9G, 7A) in 16 career games vs the Isles.
4:13 - NYI 4, TOR 2 - The Islanders answer right back, as Clutterbuck scores his second goal of the game, snapping a wrister top corner past Samsonov. It's Clutterbuck's first two-goal game since Dec. 16, 2021 and the eighth of his career.

13:56 - NYI 6, TOR 2 ENG - Noah Dobson effectively ices it, hitting a long-range empty-netter to make it 6-2. The goal is his 13th of the season, which ties his career-high set last season, and is his first since Feb. 24. Pageau makes
16:46 - NYI 7, TOR 2 - Anders Lee gets a deflection on a Noah Dobson point shot for his 27th goal of the season. Cal Clutterbuck records the secondary assist for his first-career three-point game.

NOTEBOOK:

Sam Bolduc, who was recalled from Bridgeport on Monday, drew into the lineup on Tuesday for the injured Sebastian Aho, skating 15:59 with two shots on a pairing with Noah Dobson. Tuesday marked Bolduc's seventh NHL game and first since Feb. 9... Josh Bailey missed his third straight game... Pageau extended his point streak to four games with six points (2G, 4A) over that span... Parise scored his 427th goal moving into a tie with Jeff Carter for 82nd on the NHL's all-time goals list... Fasching extended his point streak to three games with three points (2G, 1A) over that span. Fasching has eight points (4G, 4A) over his last 10 games... Brock Nelson left the game late in the first period after taking a high hit from Noel Acciari and did not return... Noah Dobson's 13th goal tied his career-high set last season... Anders Lee netted his 239th goal with the Islanders, taking sole possession of eighth on the franchise goal list... Ilya Sorokin tied a career-high with his 26th win of the season, becoming the first Islanders goalie with 26+ wins in consecutive seasons since Rick DiPietro had three straight from 2005-08...
