The New York Islanders rode the gravy train right into Thanksgiving, scoring a 3-0 win over the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday night at UBS Arena.
Actually, the Islanders rode a three-goal second period to the win, as JG Pageau (SHG, PPG) scored a pair of goals 2:06 apart, while Sebastian Aho netted his second goal of the season.
Ilya Sorokin stopped a career-high 49 saves, as he recorded his second shutout of the season and the 12th of his career.
With the win, the Islanders won their second straight game.

Simon Holmstrom made his NHL debut on Wednesday night, skating 11:11 on a line with Mathew Barzal and Oliver Wahlstrom. Holmstrom was recalled as Kyle Palmieri missed the contest with an upper-body injury... Aho's goal was the Islanders 17th from a defenseman this season, which leads the NHL... The Islanders scored their second shorthanded goal of the season and first since Oct. 28 against Carolina, when Zach Parise scored on an empty-net. Pageau's was the Islanders' first shorthanded goal on a goaltender this season... Pageau has six points (4G, 2A) in his last six games... Mathew Barzal extended his point streak to six games (2G, 5A)... Sorokin passed Semyon Varlamov and moved into a tie with Jaroslav Halak for fifth on the Islanders all-time shutout list.
