Ladd Lending a Hand to Isles PK:

The Islanders had 21 straight kills before allowing a power-play goal to Jack Johnson on Saturday night and are 23-for-25 in their last 10 games. The Islanders will take the 92% clip, but Thomas Hickey said it highlights the team's discipline.
"We haven't taken too many penalties which is a big part of it. That helps a lot," Hickey said. "It helps to get on a roll, and just get that confidence and then it runs even smoother."
While Cal Clutterbuck, Casey Cizikas and Nikolay Kulemin see the most PK time - for forwards - Andrew Ladd has seen his shorthanded role increase with the club of late. Ladd is averaging 1:53 SH TOI in the last three games the Islanders have taken a penalty, up dramatically from his season average of 30 seconds.

"The way that we kill penalties it's a pretty high-intensity sprint and the more groups you can have helps," Ladd said after the Islanders win over the Rangers where he spent 2:23 shorthanded. "It's something that I've done for a long time in Winnipeg or Chicago and am comfortable doing, so hopefully it continues."
Ladd is happy to be helping out - even just taking some of the load off of Clutterbuck, Cizikas and Kulemin.
"You want three reps that go if we can," head coach Jack Capuano said. "He did kill in Winnipeg and we tried to ease him in there as best we could. His routes have been good, he's getting the puck 200 feet. Guys that are willing and want that responsibility we'll give them the chance and he's embraced it.
