The
New York Islanders
and
UBS Arena at Belmont Park
, the New York metropolitan area's newest premier entertainment and sports venue, are engaging fans, streamlining food and beverage ordering, and meeting growing consumer demand for digital and contactless payment options with the implementation of Clover® point-of-sale hardware and
Bypass
point-of-sale software from
Fiserv, Inc.
, a leading global provider of payments and financial services technology.

"Built from the ground up with a premier fan experience in mind, UBS Arena opened on November 20 with cutting-edge technology that prioritizes digital engagement designed to delight our fans before, during, and after every event," said Hank Abate, President Arena Operations at UBS Arena. "Grabbing one of our new Islander chicken sandwiches and a drink is a part of the experience for many event attendees, and with Fiserv we are making it easy for fans at UBS Arena to place an order, pick up, and pay in a moment."
Supporting mobile and in-app ordering, self-service kiosks, grab-and-go marketplaces, and touchless order fulfillment, Fiserv has implemented a fully cashless payments ecosystem at UBS Arena. More than 350 Clover devices enable quick and contactless purchasing that shortens concession queues and allows hockey fans and concert goers to spend more time enjoying the event.
"As consumers embrace digital engagement, sporting and event venue operators have a timely opportunity to build better experiences for fans while streamlining their own operations," said Geoff Johnson, general manager of Bypass at Fiserv. "With new digital and self-serve ordering and payment options, Islander fans at UBS Arena will enjoy more time watching the action on the ice."
Clover is a complete point-of-sale and business-management platform enabling businesses to maximize their operating efficiencies and grow, while providing customers flexible ways to pay. Powering the fan experience in more than 50 major professional sports stadiums and 300 other venues across the U.S, the combination of Clover and Bypass allows venues to optimize their front- and back-of-house service operations, while also gaining access to real-time data and analytics for sales and operational performance.
"Using Bypass technology from Fiserv has enabled us to further reimagine our approach to concessions, delivering a next-generation experience for fans," said Bob Thormeier, vice president of operations for Delaware North Sportservice, the hospitality and foodservice provider at UBS Arena. "We've traded out many of the classic 'belly-up' concession stands for more market-style concepts at UBS Arena, allowing guests more flexibility when ordering, followed by a quick, seamless checkout process with the Bypass technology."
UBS Arena at Belmont Park is made for music and built for hockey. New York's newest premier entertainment and sports venue and home of the New York Islanders is developed in partnership with Oak View Group, the New York Islanders, and Jeff Wilpon, with Sterling Project Development serving as development manager. Providing a significant boost to the regional economy, especially when economic activity has been greatly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, the world-class entertainment venue, with its timeless and classic design, bridges its iconic past with today's advanced technology and amenities.
The $1.1 billion multi-purpose, state of the art arena will host more than 150 major events annually while delivering an unmatched live entertainment experience including clear sightlines and premier acoustics. UBS Arena is designed to hold up to 19,000 people for concerts and around 17,000 for NHL games. In an effort to build a greener future, UBS Arena intends on being carbon neutral for operations before 2024, which will make it the first arena to do so on the eastern United States seaboard.
