Free agent defensemen Luca Sbisa and Dennis Seidenberg as well as forward Stephen Gionta are attending Islanders training camp on professional tryouts (PTOs) this season.
Sbisa spent last season with the Vegas Golden Knights, joining the team via the expansion draft. The defenseman is a veteran of 495 NHL games, racking up 102 points (18G, 84A) over 10 seasons with Philadelphia, Anaheim, Vancouver and Vegas. He played 12 playoff games in Vegas' run to the Stanley Cup Final.
Sbisa said he's excited for the opportunity and appreciated Islanders President and General Manager Lou Lamoriello's directness about his situation.

"He was pretty straightforward and said you have a pretty good chance to make the team and to help us out, not just right now and maybe long term," Sbisa said. "That's something that attracted me to a team that's going through a lot of changes."
He'll be up against Seidenberg, who spent the past two seasons with the Islanders, and a stable of young defensemen, including Devon Toews and Sebastian Aho, who are knocking at the door for an NHL opportunity.
As for Gionta, the 34-year-old is looking to return for his third season with the organization. Gionta split time between the Islanders and Bridgeport Sound Tigers in 2016-17 and played an injury-shortened season exclusively in Bridgeport last year.
