Two Split

The New York Islanders reported a relatively clean bill of health on Saturday morning, with none of the team self-reporting major injuries or upcoming surgeries.
That was good news for a club that dealt with a few major injuries during the season, as was the updates on Cal Clutterbuck (shoulder) and Scott Mayfield (lower body).

Clutterbuck missed the last six weeks of the season with a shoulder injury that required surgery. The 34-year-old forward signed a two-year extension with the team on March 21 before his injury was announced on March 24.
Clutterbuck said he feels good, but still has some rehab ahead of him and expects to be able to get the bulk of his usual summer training done.
"There is going to be some months of rehab to be done," Clutterbuck said. "I don't know how much it's going to be affecting my ability to prepare for next year. I'm fully expected to be ready to go and get summer training under my belt."

Clean Out Day: Cal Clutterbuck

The physical forward said he'd been playing through the injury for some time, but reached a point where surgery was necessary.
"It was just a soreness thing that I didn't get explored," Clutterbuck said. "It got worse and it got to a point where took a couple games off and tried to just give it a couple of days and it wasn't getting better."
"It wasn't really affecting my performance at the time," Clutterbuck said. "I really didn't think anything was wrong, so I was just playing. You get sore sometimes and things come and go. It got to a point where it was a little extra and just wasn't getting better, so I need to figure out what it was and it turned out that I needed to get something fixed."
Clutterbuck finished the season with 15 points (6G, 9A) in 59 games and led Islanders forwards in shorthanded ice time per game (2:00) at the time of his injury. He finished second on the team with 229 hits.

Clean Out Day: Scott Mayfield

As for Mayfield, the defenseman said he was also in a good spot after missing the last 21 games of the season with a lower-body injury.
"I'm doing good," Mayfield said. "Pretty much 100% going to offseason training. I just wasn't able to get back in time ,but it is what it is. A lot of guys deal with stuff so it's part of it. It sucks missing those games, but I feel good."
Mayfield recorded 18 points (3G, 15A) in 61 games this season, with 77 hits and 109 blocked shots.
