MacLean Cizikas

The New York Islanders announced on Wednesday afternoon that Casey Cizikas has been placed on IR with a lower-body injury, retroactive to Jan. 9.

The team recalled Kyle MacLean from the Bridgeport Islanders in a corresponding move. The 6′1″, 190 lb center has 19 points (6G, 13A) through 36 games in his fourth season with Bridgeport. Through four AHL seasons, the Basking Ridge, New Jersey native collected 78 points (29G, 49A) through 193 games. He entered professional hockey undrafted, spending his junior career with the Oshawa Generals, with 156 points through 278 games through five seasons in the OHL.

The transaction marks the first NHL recall for MacLean, 24, son of Islanders Assistant Coach, John MacLean.

Cizikas has been considered week-to-week since suffering the injury in the first period of the game against the Vancouver Canucks on Jan. 9. He has missed four games since then.

Cizikas has 11 points (5G, 6A) through 39 games this season, totaling 82:09 shorthanded ice time and averaging 13:30 TOI per game.
