Cizikas-Nelson-Split

Casey Cizikas and Brock Nelson participated in the New York Islanders morning skate on Thursday at Northwell Health Ice Center.
Both forwards are "days away" from a return, per Head Coach Barry Trotz, but the presence of both players was a welcome sight as the Islanders continue to get healthier as a team.

"They are skating with the group today, they are days away I would think," Trotz said. "They've missed some time, but are getting closer. It was a morning skate so there wasn't grind or contact, so we'll see the doctors and the therapists, strength coaches, sports-science department see where both of those guys are at and then hopefully we get them sooner rather than later."
Cizikas entered COVID-19 protocols on Nov. 27, while Nelson suffered a lower-body injury on Nov. 21 against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Nelson was expected to miss two-to-four weeks, and is approximately two-and-a-half weeks removed from suffering the injury. Nelson's nine goals still lead the Islanders, while Cizikas boasts a 54.2 FOW%.
