Sound Tigers Start the Season with Home Win

Bridgeport: 2-2-0, 4 pts., 3rd in Atlantic Division, 7th in Eastern Conference
Following the first two weeks of the AHL season, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers sit at third place in their division.
The Sound Tigers kicked off the 2016-17 season with a 2-1 win at home over the Providence Bruins on Saturday, October 15. Bracken Kearns netted the game-winning goal while Christopher Gibson stood tall in net for Bridgeport, stopping 38 of 39 shots. The following day, Bridgeport was edged out by the Springfield Thunderbirds in a 2-1 loss. Kane Lafranchise tallied his first goal of the season.
This past weekend, the Sound Tigers hit the road for the first time this season to take on two division rivals in Pennsylvania. Bridgeport's five-goal output powered the team to a 5-2 win over the Lehigh Valley Phantoms on Friday. The team had five different goal scorers including Michael Dal Colle, whose first professional goal proved to be the game winner. Carter Verhaeghe (1G, 1A) and Bracken Kearns (2A) each recorded multi-point efforts in the victory. Christopher Gibson's 18 saves secured the second win of the season for the Sound Tigers.
Bridgeport struggled to keep up with the Hershey Bears' offense in a 5-2 loss on Sunday. Tanner Fritz scored both goals for the Sound Tigers in the game, as he sits as the team's leading scorer (2G, 1A) through the first four games of the season. Kyle Burroughs registered assists on both of Fritz' goals, while Stephon Williams stopped 16 shots.
The Sound Tigers have seen balanced offensive contributions from their roster as 17 players recorded points through the first four games of the season, with eight of them recording at least two points.
Joshua Ho-Sang has three assists in four games and is currently riding a three-game point streak.

Missouri Mavericks Return Home for First Win of the Season

Missouri: 1-3-0, 2 pts., 6th in Mountain Division, 13th in Western Conference
After opening the season with three consecutive road games, the Missouri Mavericks returned home to post their first win of the season.
The Mavericks began their season with a tough two-game road series against the defending ECHL Champion, Allen Americans. Missouri dropped the pair of games by scores of 6-3 and 4-0. Josh Robinson (33 saves) and Eamon McAdam (36 saves) each made an appearance in goal for the Mavericks.
Missouri's stretch of away games continued in Wichita, where the Mavs lost a 4-1 game to the Thunder. Darren Nowick notched his first goal of the season for the Mavericks and Eamon McAdam made 29 saves in his second start of the season.
The Mavs got their first win of the on Saturday, beating the Indy Fuel 2-1 in their home opener. Darren Nowick scored for the second consecutive game and Aaron Berisha's third period goal would clinch the team's victory. Josh Robinson's 31 saves held off the Fuel for the 2-1 Missouri win.

Adams Among USHL Point Leaders

Collin Adams steady point production for the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the United States Hockey League has not faltered through the first month of play. Through the first nine games of the season, Adams sits in third place among USHL point leaders with 11 points (6G, 5A). The left winger has recorded points in all but three of the Lumberjacks games this season.
Adams recorded the game-winning goal and an assist in a 5-0 win against the Bloomington Thunder on Friday. The Brighton, Michigan native continued to propel the Lumberjacks offense in a 4-3 shootout win on Saturday against the Waterloo Black Hawks with a third period goal as well as the only goal scored in the shootout by either team.
The Islanders' 2016 sixth-round pick (170th overall) is in his second season for the Lumberjacks. His 61 points last season, including 27 goals, ranked second on the team.
Adams received USHL Forward of the Week honors (10/10/16). He is committed to play college hockey at the University of North Dakota.

Vande Sompel Contributing Both Offensively and Defensively

Mitchell Vande Sompel has surpassed the point-per-game rate through his first ten games of the season for the Oshawa Generals for the Ontario Hockey League. The defenseman has recorded 11 points (5G, 6A), as the Generals sit second in their division.
Vande Sompel tallied three points in the two wins this weekend for Oshawa. The London, Ontario native had two points (1G, 1A) in a 6-2 win against the Sarnia Sting on Friday night, his third multi-point game of the season. Vande Sompel, who serves as an alternate captain for the Generals, also recorded in assist in a 5-4 overtime win against the Guelph Storm on Sunday.
The Islanders' 2015 third-round pick (82nd overall) is in the midst of his fourth season with the Oshawa Generals. Vande Sompel currently ranks fifth in points among defensemen in the OHL.
