While a host of Islanders prospects are vying for a spot on the team at training camp, the team's overseas prospects are off and running in the 2022-23 season.
Finland's Liiga and Sweden's SHL are underway and in North America, the USHL has started and the NCAA season is just around the corner. Check back weekly for updates on the team's prospects.
Here are this week's updates on Islander prospects:

LIUKAS OFF TO STRONG START

Eetu Liukas started his season with HPK off strong, with two goals and two assists plus a shootout winner in his first nine games.
On Sept. 21, Liukas scored the game-tying goal in the third period, and then game-winning goal against Tappara, his first two goals of the season.
Liukas, the Islanders' fifth round pick (157th overall) also buried the game winner in the shootout on Oct. 1 to give HPK the 3-2 win over Ilves.
Liukas and HPK sit in 5th place in the Liiga standings through the first nine games.

PIVONKA SHINES IN EXHIBITION GAME

Jake Pivonka scored a goal and added an assist in Omaha's 7-2 season-opening exhibition victory over No. 3 Minnesota St.
The points are Pivonka's first on his new team, after transferring from Notre Dame as a graduate student this year.
Omaha starts the regular season on Oct. 7 against Niagara at home.

FINLEY FINDS BACK OF THE NET FOR MADISON

Quinn Finley, the Islanders' 2022 third-round pick, has two points (1G, 1A) in three games to start the season for the Madison Capitols in the USHL.
Finley had two points in the first two games of the season, though they came in a pair of losses for the Capitols.
