William Dufour's spectacular season ended on a strong note, as the Islanders prospect strung together a four-game goal streak to close out the schedule.
Dufour scored a goal in each of the Saint John Sea Dogs three games last week, totaling four points (3G, 1A), while extending his overall goal - and point streak - to four games (4G, 3A).
Dufour finished the season with a QMJHL-leading 56 goals and placed second in the league with 116 points. To put it in perspective, Dufour's 56 goals were more than his previous career-high in points (55) set during the 2019-20 season, though that season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Dufour was named the Sea Dogs MVP, Player's Choice MVP and Top Scorer at the team's annual awards dinner.
The Islanders 2020 fifth-round draft pick (152nd overall) also led the QMJHL in power-play goals (20) and game-winning goals (13).
The Sea Dogs will play the Rimouski Océanic in the first round of the QMJHL playoffs. The best-of-five series kicks off with a back-to-back set on Thursday, May 5 and Friday, May 6. Rimouski and Saint John split their season series 1-1. Dufour scored a pair of goals over the course of the two contests.
