Alex Jefferies, who was selected in the fourth round (121st overall) in the 2020 NHL Draft, scored his first collegiate goal for the Merrimack College Warriors in their season-opening series against the University of Massachusetts.
Jefferies finished the series with three points (1G, 2A) after recording his first-collegiate point with an assist in Merrimack's 3-1 loss on Dec. 5. Jefferies posted a two-point night (1G, 1A) in Merrimack's 3-2 win on Dec. 6, scoring his first goal of his college career.

WAHLSTROM KEEPS MOMENTUM GOING

Since returning from an undisclosed injury that had sidelined him for five weeks, Oliver Wahlstrom has been picking up steam.
The Isles' 2018 first rounder (11th overall) scored his fourth of the season with AIK, in Sweden's Hockey Allsvenskan league, on Dec. 5, in AIK's eventual 4-2 loss to Karlskoga.
The winger now has seven points (4G, 3A) through nine games. Wahlstrom and AIK are ranked 13th overall in the Allsvenskan with a record of 5-10-1.

HOLMSTROM SELECTED TO ATTEND SWEDEN'S WJC CAMP

Simon Holmstrom was selected to attend Sweden's World Junior Championship (WJC) camp, as announced on Dec. 3. The Islanders' 2019 first rounder (23rd overall) was previously named to Sweden's 2021 World Junior Championships (WJC) preliminary Finnkamp roster at the end of October.
Holmstrom was previously playing for Vita Hasten in the Allsvenskan league. The winger made his way to North America on Nov. 24 to prepare for WJC and the upcoming season. He finished his stint with Vita Hasten with two points (1G, 1A) and two PIMs through 11 games.
If Holmstrom makes the Sweden's WJC team, this will be his first appearance at World Juniors, but not his first time representing his home country; Holmstrom suited up for his nation at the 2019 under-18s.
This year's WJC is slated to take place at Edmonton's Rogers Place without fans. The tournament will begin on December 25, 2020 and close with the gold medal game scheduled for January 5, 2021.

Jake Pivonka scored his first goal of his junior season with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in their series against Arizona State. The Isles' 2018 fourth-rounder (103rd overall) recorded his first point of the season as he dished out an assist in Notre Dame's 6-3 loss to Arizona State on Dec. 3.
In the second-leg of the weekend series, Pivonka posted a two-point outing (1G, 1A) as he scored in Notre Dame's 5-4 win on Dec. 4. The center now has three points (1G, 2A) through six games. Pivonka and the Fighting Irish are ranked fifth overall in Big Ten with 3-3-0 record.

QMJHL PROLONGS HOLIDAY BREAK

Due to the rising COVID-19 outbreaks, the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) opted to prolong its holiday break from Dec. 1, 2020 through Jan. 3, 2021.
"The current situation with the pandemic in the regions in which we operate makes it extremely difficult to play games," shared Commissioner Gilles Courteau, via the league's official release. "With the Holidays just around the corner, the provinces in the Maritimes have restricted access and travel, while red zone restrictions in Quebec do not permit us to play."
Isles prospect, William Dufour and the Drummondville Voltigeurs had just wrapped up six games in a 'protected environment' after having to undergo a suspension of play in October due to the pandemic. Through 18 games this season with Drummondville, Dufour has totaled 10 points (6G, 4A), including six goals (seven points) in the 'protected environment.' Dufour and the Voltigeurs are ranked 15th overall in the Q with a record of 5-4-1, despite having played fewer games than most of their opposition in the league.
