Here are this week's updates on the Islanders prospects:

NEWKIRK CONTINUES TO CONTRIBUTE

Reece Newkirk continues to produce for the Portland Winterhawks, roping in two more points (2A) in back-to-back games against the Seattle Thunderbirds. His first assist came during the first two minutes of the 6-3 win on Saturday.
The following night, the Islanders' fifth rounder (147th overall) went on to dish out the assist for the game-winning goal in the 4-1 win against the Thunderbirds, making it his 11th helper of the season.
Newkirk has four assists in as many games, bringing his season total to 18 points (7G, 11A) through 16 games played. The Winterhawks sit second in the Western Conference WHL standings with a record of 8-5-3 with a total of 19 points.


TPS DEFEATS PELICANS IN LIIGA QUARTERFINALS

Ruslan Iskhakov and TPS came out on top in the best-of-five quarterfinal series of the Liiga Playoffs against Matias Rajaniemi and the Pelicans. Ishakov had two assists for TPS in the battle for a spot in the semifinals, while Rajaniemi netted one goal for the Pelicans.
The games leading up to TPS' victory were split evenly, making game five decisive. The game-winning goal was scored by Topias Haapanen with less than five minutes left in the third, bringing the team back from the initial one goal deficit. TPS will go on to face HIFK in the Liiga semifinals starting April 29th.
Through five playoff games, Iskhakov has recorded two points on his two assists. Rajaniemi's postseason run came to an end with one goal through three games. The Islanders' 2020 sixth rounder (183rd overall) finished this season with the Pelicans with nine points (3G, 6A) through 46 regular-season games.


SALO, OREBRO ADVANCE TO SEMIFINALS

Over in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) Robin Salo and Orebro advanced to the semifinals of SHL Playoffs following a 4-0 sweep over Leksands IF. Sixth-seeded Orebro currently trails 2-1 in the semis against top-seeded Vaxjo.
Salo has yet to record a point through three games in the series, but has four points on four assists through seven postseason games.
