Kieffer Bellows and Team USA captured a bronze medal at the World Junior Hockey Championship last week. Bellows also led the tournament and set a Team USA record with nine goals. While Bellows was tearing up the international stage, a host of other Islanders prospects, including Ilya Sorokin, David Quenneville and Ben Mirageas, were making their mark.

Just over a week into the New Year, Sorokin has only allowed a single goal in three games. Sorokin made 25 saves in a 2-1 OT win against Jokerit on Wednesday, his only goal against of the week. The CSKA goalie stopped all 21 shots in Friday's 7-0 win over Vityaz for the first of his two consecutive shutouts. Sorokin made 15 saves in a 3-0 shutout over Slovan on Sunday and also logged his first assist of the season, picking up the secondary assist on the game-winner.

The Islanders' 2014 fourth-round pick is tied for the KHL lead in shutouts with eight on the season, and is second in goals-against average with a 1.39. Sorokin is 22-6-4 this season with a 1.39 GAA and a .935 save percentage.

QUENNEVILLE RIDING FOUR-GAME STREAK

David Quenneville is on a four-game point streak, tallying five points (2G, 3A) in the first four games of the New Year. Quenneville started off the streak on Monday with an assist on a power-play goal in the Medicine Hat Tigers' 5-4 overtime win over the Kootenay ICE.

The 19-year-old chipped in a goal in a 4-3 overtime loss to the Calgary Hitmen on Wednesday and recorded a two-point game (1G, 1A) on Friday in a 5-1 win over the Edmonton Oil Kings. Quenneville's streak continued with an assist in Medicine Hat's 5-3 loss to the Vancouver Giants on Saturday.
The Islanders' 2016 seventh-round pick is the top scoring defenseman in the WHL with 47 points (17G, 30A) so far this season. Quenneville leads in team assists and is second in team goals and team scoring.

MIRAGEAS HAS THREE POINTS IN MAYOR'S CUP

Ben Mirageas recorded three points (1G, 2A) as Providence beat Brown 5-0 to capture the 32nd Mayor's Cup on Wednesday. Mirageas recorded a helper in each of the first two periods and notched a goal with 32 seconds to play in the third. The three-point night was the defenseman's third multi-point effort this season.
Providence also picked up a 5-2 win over Merrimack on Saturday, marking their fourth-consecutive win, including a Mayor's Cup and a Three Rivers Classic title.
The Islanders' 2017 third-round pick leads his team in power play goals, with five of the seven coming on the man advantage this season, and is fifth on the team in goals. Mirageas has 14 points (7G, 7A) in 22 games this season.
