Mathew Barzal is looking to become the fifth player in New York Islanders history to win the Calder Trophy when the NHL Awards get underway on Wednesday night.
Barzal, who led all rookies with 85 points (22G, 63A), is looking to join Denis Potvin, Bryan Trottier, Mike Bossy and Bryan Berard as Islanders Calder winners.
It's been 21 years since the New York Islanders had a rookie of the year and the group that Barzal is trying to join is an exclusive and decorated one. Three of the four Isles Calder winners - Potvin, Trottier and Bossy - went on to the Hockey Hall of Fame and have their numbers retired by the team.
NewYorkIslanders.com has put together a guide to the team's past Calder winners as a refresher before Wednesday's awards show.
