Islanders dog

It's a tail of two friends.

The New York Islanders puppy with a purpose dog Monte met the New York Mets vet dog Shea for a tour of Citi Field early in the week of April 18.

Both dogs live on Long Island and met up for a puppy playdate. The two share many similarities, including being named after team arenas. Monte is a nod to Belmont Park, which is the site of UBS Arena and Shea came from Shea Stadium, the former Mets ballpark that closed in 2008.

Monte will become a service dog for someone who is blind or visually impaired, which the Islanders partnered with the Guide Dog Foundation for. Shea is a future service dog for a veteran in need from America's VetDogs. Both Monte and Shea spend plenty of time with fans at their respective arenas, which the Guide Dog Foundation said helps in becoming
confident and calm guide dogs

And their go-to celebration? The dogpile.
