NEW YORK ISLANDERS (3-4-0) AT CAROLINA HURRICANES (4-1-1)

WATCH: MSGSN2 | MSGGO | ESPN+
LISTEN: 88.7FM | 103.9FM
The New York Islanders head south to take on the Carolina Hurricanes Friday night.
The Islanders (3-4-0) are fresh off a 3-0 shutout win over the New York Rangers, snapping a three-game losing streak. Ilya Sorokin looked dominant in a 41-save performance, the fourth most saves he's made in a game in his NHL career. Kyle Palmieri scored two goals and Josh Bailey scored his first of the season.

"I thought when the momentum shifted in the game for us was when we started to get pucks in deep and we started to use our forecheck," Head Coach Lane Lambert said. "When we're able to do that, then it translates into opportunities and our defensemen get involved, shots and net-front presence."
The game will be the 1000th NHL game for Josh Bailey, the Islanders' longest-tenured active player and the third longest tenured player in franchise history. Bailey joins Bryan Trottier (1,123) and Denis Potvin (1,060) as the only players to play
The Hurricanes are coming off a 3-2 win over the Vancouver Canucks, but prior to that lost to both the Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers, all on the road. This is the Hurricanes' second home game of the season after their opener.

ISLANDERS NOTES:
  • Josh Bailey will play his 1000th NHL game, becoming just the third player in franchise history to play 1000 games as an Islander. Bailey was drafted in the first round by the Islanders in 2008, and has played exclusively for the Islanders since his NHL debut. He has scored 556 points (177G, 379A) in his 999 games, eighth-most in franchise history.
    - Kyle Palmieri scored his first goals of the season against the Rangers on Wednesday. Palmieri's first goal in the second period was the game-winner in the 3-0 shutout.
    - Adam Pelech had two primary assists in Wednesday's win over the Rangers. The two assists bring Pelech's season total to four points (4A) in seven games this season, second on the team in defensive scoring behind Noah Dobson.
