Lee-cropped

Anders Lee looked like his usual self as he took the ice for the first session of New York Islanders Training Camp on Thursday morning.
That was a welcome development for the Islanders captain, who suffered a torn ACL on March 11. While Lee had skated prior to Islanders opening camp, and was medically cleared to participate, he hadn't skated in a full-contact practice with his teammates in some time. Lee's assessment - he feels good.

"Felt really good to be on the ice with the boys and a really good day one of camp here," Lee said. "For me, it's continuing on with my rehab and my progress here and it's great to have camp to do that. We're just taking it day by day and going at it like we always have been. The restrictions are off, everything is good, it's just making sure we take a look at everything and get ready for game one."

Lee was leading the Islanders with 12 goals in 27 games at the time of his injury. Mathew Barzal, who was also skating in the first group of the day, said his linemate looked like he hadn't missed a beat. Lee ended the first skate by leading the team stretch.
"Just relieving having him back out there and seeing him buzz around and look faster even than last year," Barzal said. "He's obviously in great shape, looks great, shooting the puck well. It's relieving for our group and our organization."
