Dobson netted the winner, while Josh Bailey (1G, 2A), Casey Cizikas (SHG) and Anders Lee each scored for the Islanders, who rallied out of a 3-2 deficit in the third period.
"It was a good way to finish the game, a nice little comeback for us," Dobson said.
Scott Laughton (SHG), Owen Tippett and Tanner Laczynski scored for the Flyers, who wrapped up their preseason slate.
With the win, the Isles improve to 2-2-0 in preseason play. Tuesday also marked the most goals the Isles had scored in a preseason game so far this season.

A HIGH-EVENT NIGHT FOR SPECIAL TEAMS UNITS:

It was another eventful game for the Islanders' special teams, who scored a pair of power-play goals, netted a shorthanded goal - and also allowed a shorthanded goal in the contest.
"It was a high event game for the special teams," Dobson said. "It's not going to be pretty all of the time, but if you get an opportunity in overtime you have to capitalize and we did that, so it's something to build off of for sure."
The Flyers opened the scoring with a shorthanded marker early in the second period, the result of an Anthony Beauvillier cross-ice pass being picked off by Scott Laughton. The shorthanded goal was the second the Islanders have allowed in four preseason games. The Islanders allowed seven shorthanded goals in the entirety of last season.
The Isles special teams more than made up for it the rest of the way. The power play scored for a second straight game on Tuesday, notching the score at one as Bailey stuffed a loose puck past Troy Grosenick at 16:13. Bailey was the first to a loose puck after Grosenick couldn't handle a Kieffer Bellows try and some JG Pageau caused chaos in front of the net.

NYI@PHI: Dobson wins it in OT with power-play goal

The eventful special teams night continued with the Isles first shorthanded goal of the preseason. Casey Cizikas outmuscled Cam York while the two battled for a loose puck in front of Grosenick before Cizikas chipped a backhander through the Flyers backup netminder. Cizikas' goal came as the Isles successfully killed off Otto Koivula's four-minute, double-minor for high sticking.
"It was a bouncing puck and I know it's not a comfortable position as a d-man when a guy is coming at you there, so I just tried to get body position on him, get around him and poke the puck and it was able to go in," Cizikas said.
When it mattered most, the man advantage came through, peppering Grosenick in OT before Dobson buried the winner. Perhaps more importantly, the Isles were able to work on their four-on-three setup against an opponent, as well as a chance to work on their three-on-three game.
"There was a little cat and mouse in overtime to start," Head Coach Lane Lambert said. "We haven't talked a lot or done a lot at three-on-three up to this point, so to get that live game action for us was huge."

SOROKIN GOES THE DISTANCE:

Ilya Sorokin went the distance in his second start of the preseason, stopping 30-of-33 shots in the OT win.
The Russian netminder needed to be on his game early, as the Flyers peppered the Islanders out of the gate, taking a 9-3 shot advantage early. Sorokin tracked pucks well, including a right pad save off a redirected shot from defenseman Nick Seeler.
Scott Laughton beat Sorokin on a shorthanded breakaway early in the second period, eluding a pokecheck before sliding the puck five-hole, though it was hard to fault the goalie on an uncontested breakaway. Sorokin shook it off, denying Owen Tippett on a partial break as the Flyers forward caught a stretch pass behind the Isles D.
There wasn't much Sorokin could do on either of the Flyers third period goals, as Tippett buried a one-timer on a two-on-one with Kevin Hayes at 5:05, while Laczynski also scored on a breakaway at 8:53. Still Sorokin stopped 12-of-14 in the period, including another nice save late on Tippett and two shots in OT.

BELLOWS BANGS BODIES:

Kieffer Bellows had an active game for the Islanders on Tuesday, as the forward had an assist, a team-high six hits and six shot attempts in 15:17 TOI.
That's the type of physical and involved game the Islanders coaching staff has asked of the 24-year-old, who is looking to increase his role with the team.
"We're seeing a little bit more, which is good," Lambert said. "He's been asked to be involved and be physical and put pucks to the net and he has a good shot. He had an eventful game."
Bellows hit the score sheet on the Islanders first goal, as his heavy shot was too much for Grosenick to handle with Pageau crashing the net. Bellows also generated a pair of quality looks off the rush, including a slapper on a two-on-one rush that narrowly missed. When he didn't have the puck, he threw the body.
"When he's going, when he's really effective, I think he's playing that power forward game," Dobson said of Bellows. "He's a strong guy who can play physical and when he's getting in on the forecheck, banging bodies, he's got a great shot when he can get those chances too, but I think like all of us young players you try and evolve when you first come into the league and try to become a complete player and that's just something he's done."

NEXT GAME:

The Islanders take the ice on Thursday when they host the New Jersey Devils at 7 p.m. at UBS Arena.
