Last Time Out...

  • On the second night of a back-to-back, with travel, and without Jordan Staal (lower-body injury), the Canes beat their drum of consistency and still found a way to take down the Flyers on Sunday, 4-1.
  • Sebastian Aho (1G, 1A), William Carrier (2A), and Andrei Svechnikov (1G, 1A) drove the bus offensively, all recording multi-point nights.
  • Pyotr Kochetkov kept his perfect start to the season going in net, turning away 18 shots to improve to 3-0-0.

Storm Surge...

  • The Canes extended their winning streak to five games and their road winning streak to four, outscoring opponents 25-11 over that span.
  • Carolina leads the NHL with 27 goals through seven games and has leapfrogged Edmonton and Vegas for the league’s best record.
  • The team has also scored five or more goals in three consecutive games from Oct. 6-10, their first such streak since Oct. 7-13, 2018. The longest such streak in franchise history is six games, set from Nov. 23 to Dec. 7, 1985.

Previous Meetings vs. WSH This Season...

  • Oct. 2: Washington scored three times in the first period and remained in control for a 5-2 win at Lenovo Center.

The Hottest Man In The Game...

  • After another multi-point showing for Sebastian Aho on Sunday, he now has three games with two or more trips to the scoresheet this season. Only Connor McDavid, Nathan MacKinnon, and Jack Eichel (4 each) have more.
  • Aho tallied his team-leading sixth goal in Philadelphia, matching the most in the NHL. The Finn now has points in six straight games (6G, 5A), the longest active point streak in the league.

The Second-Hottest Man In The Game...

  • Forward Mark Jankowski enters tonight's contest with a goal in a league-high four straight games.
  • A career-best, the 32-year-old is off to the best start of his career, boasting more goals (4) through the first seven games of this season than he has ever had points during that span of any other campaign.

In Net...

  • Tonight presents an interesting decision for Goaltending Coach Paul Schonfelder and the staff to make.
  • Rotating starts for the past six games, tonight would be Brandon Bussi's turn. Bussi, who started and won on Saturday in Chicago, also has an extra day of rest as part of his case. However, the second-year NHLer had trouble against Washington in the first matchup between these two teams earlier this month. Will they keep the rotation going and give him another chance to pick up a big win, or....
  • ...Could they go with Pyotr Kochetkov, who is a perfect 3-0 this season and has looked, overall, a little sharper during the last half-dozen run of games? Bussi was given the opportunity to go back-to-back for the first two games of the season after playing over 64 flawless minutes in the season opener against Florida, so it's feasible that Kochetkov gets a turn to continue his run tonight.
  • The team also has four days until their next game after tonight, so whoever gets the nod would be good to go again on Saturday in Winnipeg.

On The Other Side...

  • Last week, Alexander Ovechkin announced to his teammates that this would likely be his final season in the NHL. With Washington already having made their first trip to Raleigh this season earlier this month, that means tonight is the game's greatest goal scorer's final regular-season game in North Carolina.
  • As for the rest of the roster, another longtime Capital, Tom Wilson, paces the team with five points in five games entering this evening's contest.
  • Newcomer Alex Tuch leads the way with three goals, two of which came against the Canes in Raleigh during their meeting just two weeks ago.

It's The Frozen Frenzy...

  • All 32 of the NHL's teams are in action tonight as part of the league's Frozen Frenzy.
  • Beginning at 6 p.m. ET and going until 11 p.m. ET, all 16 games will have staggered start times, allowing you to watch as much hockey as possible.
