Last Time Out...

  • Although they allowed three goals in the first period for the second time in their last three games, the Canes put on the work boots and dug in to earn a 6-4 win on Tuesday in Montreal.
  • Taylor Hall had a pair of goals in the effort, and Sebastian Aho (1G, 2A) posted a second straight three-point game.
  • In net, Brandon Bussi earned his first win of the season, stopping 16 out of 20.

The Power Play...

  • Carolina's power play struck for the fourth time in as many games in its latest outing, keeping a hot start to the season going.
  • Ranking tied for third among all NHL teams through the early portion of the season, only the Utah Mammoth (8), Vegas Golden Knights (5) and Anaheim Ducks (5) have more.

Flying Fish...

  • With four goals in four games, Sebastian Aho ranks tied for third among all NHL skaters. Only Evan Bouchard of the Edmonton Oilers (6), Nick Schmaltz of the Utah Mammoth (5) and Kyle Connor of the Winnipeg Jets (5) have more entering Thursday's play.
  • Having tallied in three straight, Aho is up to four goals in four games this season. The only players in franchise history with more through the team’s first four games in a campaign are Andrei Svechnikov (6 in 2022-23), Seth Jarvis (5 in 2025-26), Eric Staal (5 in 2005-06), Geoff Sanderson (5 in 1993-94) and Ron Francis (5 in 1989-90).
  • Carolina's star center also enters tonight with 18 career points in 17 regular-season games against Vancouver.

In Net...

  • Pyotr Kochetkov will likely have the net this evening after Brandon Bussi got the nod Tuesday night in Montreal.
  • Kochetkov dressed in his first regular-season game since Dec. 20, 2025, on Saturday in Philadelphia, backstopping his team to a 3-2 overtime victory. Mostly sharp throughout, he finished the evening with 16 saves on 18 shots.

On The Other Side...

  • Starting a six-game road trip, the Canucks come to town having alternated wins and losses through the first four games of the season.
  • Paul Cotter (4G, 2A) and Elias Pettersson (2G, 4A) have been bright spots for the team, posting six points in the four outings.
  • In net, Kevin Lankinen has started three of the four. It's early, but allowing 16 goals and a 6.50 goals-against average is not how he wanted to start his campaign.
  • Vancouver's 18 total goals allowed are the most by any NHL team entering Thursday's play.
