In honor of Women's History Month, the Golden Knights are celebrating all the different women in the organization that do so much behind the scenes. The team will be featuring several female employees throughout March.

How did you get to where you are now in the sports industry?
It was a journey to get here, haha! When I was in college, I was running my own embroidery company, which I spent about 5 years doing. I graduated college back in November of 2019, started applying to different graphic design jobs, and then a few months later… Covid-19 and the pandemic hit. During that time, I ended up freelancing while working part-time at In-N-Out. Eventually, I made my way into the Clark County School district as a Teacher's Assistant. Just as I was feeling lost and even wondered if graphic design was the path I should be on, I came across a job posting for a Junior Graphic Designer with the Vegas Golden Knights. I remember looking at it and thinking "this probably isn't real" - only to realize it was a legitimate job posting. I applied without any expectations because I honestly didn't think I would get the job, but boy was I wrong haha.

Kind of crazy to think back because my path wasn't a clear one, but I know everything I did got me to where I am today. Which is something I'm thankful for because I was able to break into the sports world and have really been enjoying it!

What is your role within the Foley Entertainment Group organization?
I'm a Junior Graphic Designer - which means I get to work on all kinds of different creative projects! Most of the time it's a lot of "making pictures" for social media and print, but you do get the opportunity to work on some exciting projects. Some of my favorite projects I got to work on so far would have to be all the Theme Knight jerseys I was a part of, HSK Thunder Knight poster/graphics, and Eldora the painted elephant.

What is one of the greatest challenges of being a woman in sports?
I think the greatest challenge in any male dominated industry/field is having to work twice as hard to create opportunities for yourself. There is a lot of sociality pressure on women to act, be and look a certain way. Which is unfortunate, because every day you have to fight and work twice as hard to show that you are more than any of that.

What are the most rewarding things about working in sports?
It's so rewarding to be able to create things that signify key moments in the team's history. I love being a part of a team that allows us to be innovative and doesn't limit our creativity, no matter the size of the project!

Any advice for other women trying to break into the sports world?
Be true to yourself, learn as much as you can, and don't let anyone say you can't do something. It's also very important to network - just make sure you create authentic and lasting relationships with those you meet. Most importantly, make sure you enjoy and have fun with what you're doing. Life is waaaay too short not to!
