Golden Knights end regular season in Los Angeles

by Gordon Weigers @GoldenKnights /

The end of the 2018-19 regular season has arrived for the Vegas Golden Knights as they take on the Los Angeles Kings at 7:30 p.m. PT Saturday at Staples Center. Catch the game on AT&T SportsNet and FOX Sports Radio 98.9/1340.

Saturday marks the end of the 2018-19 regular season.

Vegas will return home after Saturday's game to prepare for its first-round matchup against the San Jose Sharks.

The Golden Knights came up short in their final home game of the regular season as they were defeated by the Arizona Coyotes 4-1 on Thursday night at T-Mobile Arena. Marc-Andre Fleury returned to the ice for the Golden Knights while Mark Stone scored the lone Vegas goal.

Los Angeles took care of business in the first meeting of the season between the two clubs on Dec. 8 with a 5-1 win at Staples Center. The Kings notched a 4-3 victory in overtime at T-Mobile Arena on Dec. 23, but the Golden Knights answered on Dec. 29 with a 4-1 victory. Vegas added another win against Los Angeles on Jan. 1 with a 2-0 triumph on home ice.

The Kings spent most of the season in last place in the Western Conference and that's where they'll finish the 2018-19 campaign. Los Angeles has put up a record of 30-41-9 for 69 points.

Anze Kopitar put together a solid season with 58 points (21G, 37A) to lead the Kings. Dustin Brown (49 points) and Drew Doughty (45 points) were the only other Kings to hit the 40-point mark.

  • Be the 95th win in franchise history
  • Mark Vegas' first regular season-closing win in team history
  • Give the Golden Knights 20 wins on the road

Sharpen Up: Saturday's game is Vegas' last opportunity to gain confidence and fine-tune its game before the playoffs. They'll want to execute well for 60 minutes.
