In the first game of the 2018-19 preseason, the Vegas Golden Knights matched the intensity of their home crowd as they defeated the Arizona Coyotes, 7-2.
Max Pacioretty donned the Golden Knights uniform for the first time and found the back of the net at 8:39 of the first period for the eventual game-winning goal.
"The past couple of days I've said that I've felt comfortable and tonight I felt very comfortable," Pacioretty said.

That comfort was also felt by Dylan Ferguson who played the full game in net for the Golden Knights and made 25 saves in the winning effort. At 17:05 of the first period, Vinnie Hinostroza earned a penalty shot for the Coyotes, but his deke to the backhand was shut down by Ferguson's right pad.
Jonathan Marchessault opened the scoring 16 seconds into the game to set the tone for the highly offensive game. Jake Bischoff followed up with a goal at the 4:00 mark to give the home team an early 2-0 lead. Jordan Oesterle knocked the Vegas advantage down to 2-1 before Pacioretty's power-play goal.
William Karlsson followed suit with a power-play goal of his own just less than five minutes after Pacioretty to put Vegas up by three in the opening frame. A late goal for Jordan Gross made it 4-2, but the Golden Knights were right where they wanted to be after one period.
Marchessault's timely scoring continued in the first minute of the second period as he buried a goal 41-seconds into the frame. Nic Hague added a power-play goal of his own in the final minute of the period to put Vegas ahead 6-2 after 40 minutes. Erik Brannstrom put an exclamation point on the night's power-play success with a marker in the final five minutes to bring the score to 7-2.
Bischoff, Brannstrom and Hague, who haven't made their regular season NHL debuts yet, were impressive for Vegas and caught the eyes of head coach Gerard Gallant.
"All of those young kids are developing really good, it's nice to see," Gallant said.
Tomas Nosek registered three assists as he skated with Marchessault and Karlsson on the team's first line. Skating on the first line allowed Nosek to focus on his playmaking abilities and it showed on the scoresheet.
"Obviously, they are great hockey players, so it was great and I enjoyed it, every time on the ice with them," Nosek said. "I played on the power play as well so it was fun for me."
The preseason schedule for the Golden Knights continues Tuesday as Vegas travels to Colorado to face the Avalanche.
