BEIJING, CHINA - Matthew Tkachuk will not be in the lineup this evening when the Flames take on the Boston Bruins in the final match-up at the 2018 O.R.G. NHL China Games.
Head coach Bill Peters confirmed the winger, who suffered a lower-body injury on Tuesday, will sit for precautionary reasons.
"He tweaked it three-on-three down low in our skate yesterday," Peters said. "He could play easily today but we're not going to force the issue this time of year."
In his place, James Neal will skate on a line with Derek Ryan and Austin Czarnik.
The Flames-Bruins contest is set for 5:30 a.m. MT with Sportsnet carrying the television broadcast.
