On Friday, he collected an assist in the Heat's 6-1 victory over the Gulls at the Stockton Arena. His fourth assist of the year was the result of his hard work along the boards, pushing the puck up to Linden Vey. Vey was able to get the puck over to Matt Frattin, who put a tight-range shot five-hole on San Diego goaltender Dustin Tokarski.
In addition to his assist, Mangiapane was credited with four shots and was a plus-three in Friday's win.
On Saturday, Mangiapane set a new career-high for points in a single game with three in Stockton's 7-3 victory. He ended the night with two shots on net and was named the game's second star for his efforts.
The winger picked up the primary assist on Frattin's first period goal, with the rebound from his shot from the slot landing on Frattin's stick at the side of the net. The veteran had a wide open net to toss the puck into to give the Heat a 1-0 lead.
He added the Heat's second goal of the night, capitalizing on a three-on-two rush with his linemates Frattin and Vey. Taking a pass from Vey, Mangiapane fired a shot on net from the slot that beat Matt Hackett high blocker side.
Mangiapane netted his second of the game in the second period, slamming a shot past Hackett from the slot at the 10:07 mark.
"They were both great passes by my linemates," Mangiapane said of his two-goal night. "They both found me in the quiet area in the slot there and I just happened to put it away. They did all the work there and I just happened to finish it."
Mangiapane is in his rookie season in the American Hockey League. He spent the past three seasons in the Ontario Hockey League with the Barrie Colts, amassing 118 goals and 261 points in 195 regular season games. In his final season in Barrie, Mangiapane averaged 1.80 points-per-game with 106 points in 59 regular season skates.
