It was the second and final meeting of the season between the two teams, with Philly taking the earlier tilt 5-3 back on Nov. 27.

A sloppy play just 1:30 into the first period saw the Flyers get on the board first. After a blown clearing attempt in front of the Flames net, Matt Read picked up the puck and skated across the crease bringing Elliott with him, then passing back cross-crease to Nick Cousins who tapped the puck into an open net.
Tkachuk answered for Calgary before the five-minute mark of the frame. After winning the faceoff when he went to the dot after Mikael Backlund was waived out, Tkachuk went to the net and took a pass from Backlund and had his turn at firing a puck in a yawning cage with Flyer goalie Michal Neuvirth out of position.
The Flames soon found themselves killing a five-minute major and playing a man short for the rest of the night when Alex Chiasson was assessed a spearing major later in the first and tossed from the game.
To make matters worse, Sean Monahan got tagged with a minor for delay of game after clearing the puck down the ice into the netting putting Calgary down two men for just under two minutes.
However, the Flames brought the crowd to its feet when they killed off both penalties.
Asked recently by Glen Gulutzan coach to shoot more, Brodie notched his fourth goal of the season when he took a pass from Tkachuk and fired a wrist shot from just inside the blueline that beat Neuvirth high blocker side.
The Flames were outshot 25-13 over 40 minutes and 34-23 overall.
