On Saturday, December 16th, the Flames and Calgary Co-op are asking fans to bring non-perishable food items to the Scotiabank Saddledome for donation at the Calgary Flames versus the Nashville Predators game. Their generosity will help support the Calgary Food Bank and to "Donate the Weight of the Calgary Flames".

Calgary Co-op customers have been making Food Bank donations in their stores and tomorrow, December 16th, is the final collection in the hopes of donating the weight of the Calgary Flames (5,400 pounds). Fans can make non-perishable food item and cash donations when they enter the Flames versus Predators game tomorrow at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
"Calgary Co-op, through our partnership with the Calgary Flames is thrilled to be presenting the Donate the Weight of the Calgary Flames program, in support of the Calgary Food Bank," said Ken Keelor, CEO of Calgary Co-op. "Helping to feed those in our community who are struggling to put food on the table is our focus year round. At this time of year, some in our community are particularly vulnerable. The support that we have seen in our stores as we try to donate the weight of the Flames in food donations has been overwhelming. We can't wait to share the results with everyone on December 16th."
The Calgary Food Bank is a charitable, non-profit organization dedicated to gathering and distributing quality emergency food to those in need. The majority of the people they assist are working-poor Calgarians struggling to make ends meet. The Calgary Food Bank is not a government or United Way agency. They rely solely on the generous support of the community.
