THE RINKS Top Flight Street Hockey Program, a program designed for those with special needs, will host its first free on-ice hockey event this Saturday, Nov. 5 from 3:20-4:20 p.m. at THE RINKS - Lakewood ICE. The debut of the new ice hockey event is open to the public and will allow past Top Flight participants as well as new attendees to trade in their street hockey shoes for a pair of skates to try ice hockey for the first time. The Top Flight programming has previously focused on street hockey, but this event will look to expand the program to ice hockey to encourage participants to try a new type of game. The Top Flight program presented by the Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) has become a staple within THE RINKS community with each season seeing growth and increased participation.
"We are thrilled to bring the joy and excitement of hockey to everyone that has a desire to play," said Marketing Manager of THE RINKS Jesse Chatfield. "Season after season we have seen a tremendous amount of growth and development with our Top Flight street hockey program, both as it relates to personal skill and overall popularity within our community. Creating a one-day ice event was the natural progression of things and we expect to see a great response from the community."
This event will incorporate a Try Hockey for Free Day, Learn to Skate group lesson, and public skating. As with all Top Flight programs, all protective equipment and gear will be supplied by THE RINKS. Those families and individuals looking to find out more information about THE RINKS Top Flight on ICE event and to RSVP can go to www.anaheimducks.com/topflight.
