The loss extended Anaheim's winless streak to a season-long eight games (0-6-2) and dropped the club to 27-28-11 (65 points).
"There's always something to play for," Carrick said. "We're never going to give up, that's for sure. We're going to stick together as a group, keep things positive and take things game by game.""
John Gibson made 24 saves in his 47th start of the season.
With an assist, his 31st of the year, Trevor Zegras passed Cam Fowler for the most by a Ducks rookie in a single season.
Anaheim was again unable to slow down longtime Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane, who led Chicago offensively with three points. Kane totalled 10 points in three games against the Ducks this season, his most against any opponent.
Kevin Lankinen stopped 27-of-29 shots to earn his fourth win of the season, the 21st first of his NHL career. Taylor Raddysh and Dylan Strome also scored for Chicago.
Raddysh, playing his third game with the Hawks after a deadline trade from Tampa Bay, put the visitors ahead first with a shot that snuck through traffic and over Gibson's glove.
Raddysh has goals in back-to-back games, the sixth and seventh of his 56-game NHL career.
Skating in his 100th career NHL game, Carrick brought the Ducks back level just over three minutes later. As Buddy Robinson chased down a loose puck in the Chicago zone, Carrick got himself open in the low slot, quickly shoveling Robinson's centering pass off the far post and in for his 10th of the season.

"Playing 100 games is something that I'm super proud of," Carrick said. "If you look at it, I'm 30 years old, it's my 10th year pro, it might not seem like a lot to some people, but to me it's a pretty big deal and more importantly, for my family too."
Carrick has set career bests this season in goals, games played (53), assists (seven), points (18) and penalty minutes (73).
"I'm extremely proud of him," head coach Dallas Eakins said. "I've known Sammy since he turned pro. He was 20 years old at the time. It's been my privilege to coach him and watch him not only grow into a player but into a husband and into a father. He has a family now. It's been nothing but my privilege to watch his work ethic, his discipline, his grit, him never stop competing and never giving up."
Chicago restored the lead in the middle frame with another power-play goal as Kane one-timed a pass from Alex DeBrincat before Gibson could slide across his crease.
The Hawks held that one-goal lead deep into the third period, but once again a heads-up play by Carrick tied the game. The Ducks controlled an offensive zone faceoff with Zegras firing a low slapshot on net. Lankinen made the initial stop but could not corral the rebound before a hard-crashing Carrick pushed it just over the line to level the score at two.

The tied game, and the subsequently gained Ducks momentum, suffered a short shelf life though as Strome tipped home Riley Stillman's point shot less than three minutes later, putting the Blackhawks ahead again with just four minutes to play in regulation.
Zegras came inches from tying it right back up for Anaheim with a shot from the left faceoff circle that beat Lankinen clean, but the bid rung off the crossbar and away from the net.
That would be Anaheim's best look at an equalizing tally as DeBrincat then capped the scoring with an empty-net goal.
The Ducks visit the San Jose Sharks Saturday at SAP Center.
