Postgame QuotesAnaheim 2 vs. NY Islanders 3 (SO)Nov. 22, 2016Honda Center
Anaheim Ducks
Ryan Getzlaf
On the ebb and flow of the game
We're not getting a lot of bounces right now, but I thought our guys did a good job of battling back and getting a big goal in the end. We came away with a point. I thought we deserved more.

On the 14-round shootout
You have to stay focused. It's one guy at a time. Once your turn is gone, you're in limbo hoping the other guys make a play.
Cam Fowler
On the shootout
It's exciting, for sure. It's not often I get my number called, but it was fun. Coach said try not to get too high after a shootout win and try not to get too low after a shootout loss. We'll move on and get ready for Friday.
On the game
You hate to lose a point that way, but that's how it goes. I'm proud of our guys on how we battled back and tied it up in the third. We'll take a point out of it.
Jonathan Bernier
On the shootout
I need to come up with the big save at the right time. Every time we scored, they found a way to score. I need to stay patient and wait for them to make the first move. A couple times I overreacted before they even made a move.
On the Hickey goal that stood
I think it was pretty obvious. I made the save and my skate was going right to the post where I wanted it to be. He pushed me in.
On the game
This loss is on my shoulders. The guys battled really hard, but that first goal was on me. We stuck with it and put a lot of pressure on in the third. I just need to make that extra save in the shootout.
Head Coach Randy Carlyle
On Hickey's goal that stood
I saw it similar to what most of the people saw. I was under the understanding that you can't score a goal in the NHL today by pushing the goaltender's pad with the puck underneath it over the line. I guess I was proved wrong again tonight to much of our surprise. The explanation I was given was that they called it a goal on the ice, so they couldn't determine that the puck wasn't in the net under his pad. It was inconclusive, so they definitively couldn't tell if the puck was in the net or not.
On the game
There were lots of chances at both ends. Both coaches would like their teams to play a little tighter, but we're going to try to build off the momentum. We did a lot of good things tonight. We need to find ways to win the specialty teams battles. Tonight we lost the specialty teams battle in the sense that we lost in a shootout.
New York Islanders
Thomas Hickey
On the win
We needed the point so badly. We need to two points tomorrow too. It started with tonight. That was a big step. That's a good hockey team on the road, and hopefully we can string something together.
On the comeback
We've done that a bunch of times this year. Our powerplay was very good tonight. We got a lot of looks. We got a good goal with Adam [Pelech] and Johnny [Tavares] and another powerplay goal. We were ready. We played really well, so you're down by one because of a bad deflection, so what?
Thomas Greiss
On the win
It's great to get the win. That's the most important part. Both teams had a lot of shots, both teams worked extremely hard and we got lucky in the end.
On the shootout
It was long. You're just hoping someone gets a goal. It's not too tiring. You focus on the guy, figure out what you're going to do and worry about that.
Adam Pelech
On the importance of the win
Yeah this is obviously a huge game for us, especially starting off the road trip here in the west coast. I know we all are pretty excited about that win.
On scoring his first NHL goal
Even right when it happened none of us were sure. I just went into the celebration. I'm glad I got the first one and it's even better that we won tonight.
