The Ducks will be without captain Ryan Getzlaf for at least the next three games due to a facial injury suffered in the first period of Sunday's contest against the Carolina Hurricanes at PNC Arena. The 32-year-old center was struck in the face by a deflected puck 23 seconds into the game and took six more shifts in the opening frame, but did not return for the second and third periods.
Ducks head coach Randy Carlyle said today that Getzlaf remains day to day due to the swelling and will be re-evaluated Monday. Getzlaf co-leads the club in assists (6, with Andrew Cogliano) and ranks tied for second in points (7, with Rickard Rakell, Brandon Montour and Corey Perry) despite playing six games thus far.
Anaheim's upcoming schedule includes home games against the Toronto Maple Leafs (tomorrow) and Nashville Predators (Friday), and a road game at San Jose on Saturday. The Ducks will return to Anaheim for a five-game homestand beginning next Tuesday against the LA Kings.
