The Irvine Ice Foundation announced today that the 2,500 spectator arena of the $100 million plus Great Park Ice & Sports Complex will bear the name of the local development company, FivePoint. Set to open in 2018, the 280,000-square-foot complex will offer a variety of ice sports including youth and adult hockey programs, tournaments, figure skating, curling, broomball, sled hockey, public open skating and will be used as the practice facility for the Anaheim Ducks NHL team. The facility will include four sheets of ice and the main arena will feature seating for 2,500 spectators, giving the area's burgeoning high school hockey league an appropriate location to host highly attended games.

FivePoint through its partnership with Heritage Fields El Toro, LLC, is developing a mix of residential, educational, recreational and future commercial across 2,100 acres around the Orange County Great Park in Irvine. As part of its agreement with the City of Irvine, FivePoint is spending up to $250 million to develop 688 acres of the Great Park, including the Irvine Sports Park with a 2,500-seat soccer stadium, tennis courts, separate baseball and softball complexes, sand volleyball courts and flex fields for rugby, lacrosse and cricket. The first phase of this 175-acre sports facility is set to open later this summer and it will be one of the largest in the nation.

The Orange County Great Park spans approximately 1,300 acres and embraces recreation, competitive sports and parkland. Already one of Orange County's more well-known landmarks, the wide variety of park amenities aims to please residents and visitors of all-ages and continues to develop. The new location at the Great Park will perfectly complement the 175-acre multi-sports parks, creating the premier recreational and competitive location in Orange County. The first phase of the sports park is set to debut later this summer with completion of the full park in late 2018.
