Ducks Road Trip Presented by Enterprise

The Ducks face a daunting five-game road trip over the next week to three different cities, including a couple they haven't visited in quite awhile. They will take on the Wild, Blues and Avalanche, all of which are currently in playoff position near the midway points of their seasons.

Remarkably, this will be the first trip to Minnesota for the Ducks since December of 2019, and they will hope for a better performance than they had in their last matchup with the Wild, back on February 20 at Honda Center. Anaheim went down 2-0 after the first period in that one and never recovered in a 5-1 defeat.
Minnesota sits firmly in third place (and playoff position) in the Honda West Division and has ridden its defense for most of the season. The Wild rank sixth in the NHL in goals against with 2.46 per game, and the Ducks have scored more than a goal against them just once in five previous matchups (all in Anaheim). Goalie Kaapo Kahkonen is having a tremendous season, with a 12-4-0 record, a 2.05 goals against average and a .927 save percentage.

Like with Minnesota, the Ducks haven't played in St. Louis yet this season, the last trip coming in January of last year. And in four previous games played at Honda Center, the Blues have had the upper hand in all of them. The last came earlier this month, when St. Louis handed Anaheim an eighth straight loss, 3-2.
Similar to the Wild, the Blues are hanging onto playoff position, fourth place in the Honda West. Former Duck David Perron leads St. Louis in scoring with 11 goals and 29 points. Jordan Binnington has gotten the majority of the starts in net with a 9-7-0 record and 2.82 GAA.

In a truncated season where two-game sets have been the norm, the Ducks played a one-off last week at Colorado and they'll do it again next Monday. It's the second game of a back-to-back with the game in St. Louis the previous afternoon. That previous single game in Denver was not a great one for the Ducks, though it appeared it would go their way early. While debuting the Reverse Retro "Breakout" jerseys, the Ducks lept out to a 4-2 lead after one period, only to give up six unanswered in a 8-4 defeat.
Prior to those two periods, the Ducks had played the Avs well, with a 2-0-2 record that included an overtime win in Denver on March 6 that finally snapped Anaheim's nine-game skid. Colorado gave up five Anaheim goals in that game, but that hasn't been the trend, as their 2.32 goals against per game ranks fourth in the league.
Philipp Grubauer is their guy in net with a gaudy 17-7-0 record, 1.82 GAA and .925 SV%. He's one of the reasons the Avs are just behind Vegas for the top spot in the Honda West.
