When it comes to Adam Henrique's Twitter account, there is no offseason. Henrique has earned the reputation as one of the Devils "must follows" on social media for a variety reasons. Whether Henrique is poking fun at an unsuspecting former teammate (Cc: Stephen Gionta), showing off his Movember Mustache to raise awareness for Men's Health Awareness, or donating to the Hockey Fights Cancer fund, No. 14 has been active in the social-sphere.
On Wednesday, Henrique put his Twitter to the best use by reaching out to recent Rutgers graduate Ashley Stanfield.
As a diehard Devils fan, Ashley was prepared to take her final steps as a college student with a custom graduation day cap she designed herself. The famous broadcast call by Doc Emrick during Game 6 of the 2012 Eastern Conference Finals vs. the Rangers was displayed on her cap, with a Scarlet Knight twist.
However, the night prior to Ashley entering the next chapter of her life as a Rutgers graduate, disaster struck. At approximately 2 a.m. on May 25, a fire in Ashley and her fiancé Patrick's condominium caused the couple to lose their home and all their belongings (including her Adam Henrique inspired graduation cap). In true heroic fashion, Patrick, a local firefighter sprang into action during the fire and rescued his neighbors by bringing them to safety.
Despite a sleepless and traumatic night, Patrick insisted and motivated Ashley to walk at her graduation the following morning. This couple exemplified their strength and togetherness during a devastating time.
Adam Henrique recently heard the news and took it upon himself to connect with Ashley, offering his sympathy and a heartwarming gesture to help raise Ashley's spirits.
Henrique's willingness to reach out to a Devils fan in need shows his commitment to making a difference in the New Jersey community. The Devils plan to host Ashley and Patrick at the team's home opener in October and will honor Patrick as the Hero of the Game presented by Prudential for his actions and bravery on May 25. Henrique will also be meeting the couple following the game. For those also interested in lending a hand, a GoFundMe is currently open for Ashley and Patrick's benefit.
