Newark, NJ - The New Jersey Devils today re-signed forward Miles Wood to a four-year contract, with an annual average value of $2,750,000. The breakdown is as follows: 2018-19, $2,500,000; 2019-20, $2,500,000; 2020-21, $2,500,000 & 2021-22, $3,500,000. Wood will join the team for practice on Sunday morning. The announcement was made by Devils' Executive Vice President/General Manager Ray Shero.

"We are excited to have Miles under contract for the next four years," said Shero. "With his style of play, he's a big part of what we are collectively building here in New Jersey, now and in the future."
In 2017-18, Wood set new career highs with 76 games played, 19 goals, 13 assists, 32 points, 170 shots and three power play goals. His goal and shot totals placed him fourth on the squad. He was the only Devil to score a hat-trick last season when he registered three goals (2PP/1EV) and one assist for his first career four-point game, Nov. 12 at Chicago. Wood played in the 100th game of NHL/NJD career, Jan. 4 at Dallas. He has ranked first on the club in penalty minutes for the past two seasons with 84 last season and 86 in 2016-17, which ranked him second among all rookies. He has scored 27 goals and 22 assists for 49 points and 170 penalty minutes in 137 career NHL games.
Wood, 23, was signed by the team on April 8, 2016 and made his NHL debut the next night versus Toronto. He was selected by New Jersey in the fourth round, 100th overall, in the 2013 NHL Draft. In his only season at Boston College, Wood scored 10 goals and 25 assists for 35 points, while totaling 76 penalty minutes in 37 games.
The 6'2", 195lb. Wood spent three seasons, 2012-13 through 2014-15, at the Noble & Greenough School (USHS-MA). In 60 career games, he tallied 54 goals and 53 assists for 107 points. He represented the United States at the 2016 World Championships and 2015 World Junior Championships.
Wood was born on September 13, 1995 in Buffalo, NY. His father is former NHLer Randy Wood, who played 10-plus seasons with the NY Islanders, Buffalo, Toronto and Dallas.
