WHAT'S THE BUZZ:

"Overall, there is a LOT to like about Gauthier's entire game. He can be relied upon to get the job done in every single role he's cast into and is certainly in the minds of his opponents whenever his skates touch the ice. If he can simply fine tune some of the "rough around the edges" aspects to his game mentioned above, as well as continue his developmental path, he'll be a force to be reckoned with in the not-so-distant future." -Paul Zuk, Smaht Scouting

CUT TO THE CHASE:

Gauthier is the type of power forward that every NHL team covets. The center-wing swingman is 6-foot-3 and 194 pounds of solid mass. And he isn't afraid to use that physicality, whether it is separating players from the puck in the defensive zone or fending off attackers while in the offensive zone. Even post whistle, he doesn't shy away from contact. He's also a PKer with a willingness to block shots and suffer for his team.
Gauthier, who was born in Sweden but grew up in the United States, loves to shoot the puck from anywhere and everywhere. He's not a sniper in the classical sense, but can get off his shot quickly and with velocity. Gauthier has decent speed and skating ability for his size, enough to keep up in the NHL, though could use some improvement. He also needs to work on his consistency, bringing his best game-to-game and shift-to-shift. His game has a tendency to lag at times.

YOU CAN QUOTE ME:

"I've played center and wing a lot over the past few years. After talking with the assistant coaches at Boston College, they think it's best for me to center one of their top lines so I'm looking forward to doing that. … I'm happy with both positions, center or wing, but we're set for center next year." -on whether he prefers playing center or wing
