The Devils would, of course, liked if they had a bit more lottery magic on Friday night, but regardless they are still picking in the top 10 of the 2020 NHL Draft. They'll pick seventh, in fact, for the first time in their history. President of the New Jersey Devils Jake Reynolds joined the Draft Lottery Show presented by New Jersey Lottery moments after the reveal and provided his thoughts about finishing with the seventh selection.

"Obviously, we would have loved the opportunity to jump into the top three but, regardless, tonight was an important night for our organization," said Reynolds. "[We will] add another key piece in terms of building a team to get back to a level that we're competing year in and year out for the Stanley cup.

"And I know this has been a hard road for Devils fans as of late, but one thing I can tell you about this organization is we are committed to doing what it takes to win and win for a long time. And so for us to be in a position to add another top 10 pick to the already incredibly talented kind of cornerstones and a young core that we have, it's the anticipation, the excitement, and the hope for this organization and the future of the devils to a hype that we haven't seen in quite some time. So, all in all, we would have loved to have jumped up, but we're still in a very good position as an organization with our incredibly bright future."
