WJC - Day 5

MONTREAL - After their first two games in the group phase, Russia - which had only lit the lamp six times - was still looking to ignite an offense that was seen as a threat to many other nations at the World Junior Championship.

They seemed to have solved the problem in their third game, played on Sunday in Vancouver, and it was against Team Switzerland that the Russian players chose to unleash their fury.
In fact, Russia ended up doubling its goal total in the game, going from six to 13 thanks to a 7-4 win.
Twelve different players got their names on the scoresheet, one of them being Habs prospect Alexander Romanov. He was credited with an assist on his team's fifth goal, bringing his haul to four points - good for a four-way tie for first among defensemen in the tournament.
For a second straight game, Romanov registered four shots on net. He also finished the contest with a plus-3 differential for the second time in three games.
Romanov's statistical consistency also extended to his ice time, as he saw 20:15 of action on Sunday. His tournament average through three games is 20:42.
What's on tap for Monday
There's a possibility that every single Canadiens prospect could be playing on Monday, provided that Cayden Primeau is selected to start for the United States.
The moment of truth is arriving for all teams as the group phase is coming to a close, with team rankings to be set as the New Year rings in.
The game to determine who comes out on top in Group A promises to be a good one, as it features archrivals Canada and Russia. It'll be a chance to see three of the seven Habs prospects in attendance: Nick Suzuki, Josh Brook, and of course, Romanov.
