Paul Byron (hip surgery) and Brendan Gallagher (lower-body injury) are expected to return to the lineup tonight.
Byron will make his season debut, while Gallagher will play his first game since December 30 against the Carolina Hurricanes in Raleigh.
Unfortunately, David Savard won't face his former squad. Following the loss to Edmonton, the Canadiens confirmed that he'll miss eight weeks with an ankle injury.
Prior to the contest, Carey Price will meet the media via Zoom at 6:15 p.m. ET.
The Canadiens won't play again until Tuesday, February 8 when the New Jersey Devils come to town.
The Blue Jackets haven't played since Thursday when they snapped a three-game losing skid with a 5-3 victory over the New York Rangers at Nationwide Arena.
Captain Boone Jenner led the way offensively with his team-leading 17th and 18th goals of the season. He also recorded an assist to become the first Blue Jacket to reach the 30-point plateau this year.
Oliver Bjorkstrand ranks second on the roster in scoring with 28 points (12 goals, 16 assists), while Jakub Voracek sits third with 27 points (1 goal, 26 assists).
Tonight's game marks the return of Max Domi to Montreal for the first time since the Canadiens dealt him to Columbus in exchange for Anderson in October 2020.
Domi spent two seasons with the Canadiens, registering 116 points (45 goals, 71 assists) in 153 regular-season games. He also added three assists in 10 playoff appearances.
The 26-year-old has 18 points (8 goals, 10 assists) in 31 games this season.
This is the first of three meetings between Montreal and Columbus.
They battle again on February 12 at the Bell Centre, before closing out their season series on April 13 at Nationwide Arena.
