TORONTO - The Canadiens will live to fight another day after a hard-fought 5-3 win to stave off elimination in Game 5.
Brendan Gallagher set the tone early, Joel Armia enjoyed a two-goal night, Jonathan Drouin added a pair of assists, Nick Suzuki continued his monster play as a playoff rookie, and Kirk Muller earned his second-career NHL postseason win as a head coach on Wednesday night.

Read on for reactions from the postgame Zoom media op.
All-Star netminder Carey Price on the gutsy performance of Brendan Gallagher, who broke the ice with his first goal of the postseason despite previously leading the League in shots during the playoffs. The gritty assistant captain played 18:02 in Game 5, registering three shots on goal and three hits during the night.
"Yeah, Brendan did it again. He's got one of the biggest hearts of any guy I've ever played with. We know what we get from him: we get 100% compete. And he came up with a big one for us tonight."

Joel Armia and Carey Price on responding to adversity

Playoff newbie Nick Suzuki - who scored the eventual game winner midway through the third period -- helped set the table for Gallagher's goal, saucing a pass a little higher than he would have liked through the crease. Suzuki on whether or not he was trying to set Gallagher up for a baseball goal:
"Not really. I never really want to give a pass to someone in the air. I just got too much height on it, but we all know how good he is in front of the net. He basically gets a stick on any of the shots coming in. He's made a career out of getting those goals and he's doing a great job."

Suzuki and Drouin on Gallagher's part in the win

Jonathan Drouin on the adjustments the Habs made heading into Game 5 after being shutout 1-0 in Game 4:
"It was just about using more speed in the neutral zone, not being flat-footed at the blue line with your feet stuck on the ice. All three forwards were able to use their speed and I think that helped our forecheck tonight. The defensemen made some nice passes, we could really forecheck them and put pressure on their defensemen. That's where we're good: when we're able to be two guys in the corners on their defensemen, we can create some turnovers."
Kirk Muller on how his team rallied together and responded the right way in Game 5:
"This was a character win and I thought it started right from the first shift tonight with Phil [Danault]'s line and the intensity that Gally brought. I think that that was our response from losing last game. They were ready to go. They set the tone from that first shift."

MTL@PHI, Gm 5: Muller's postgame press conference

"This group is made up of some great character guys, great leaders. They could have come in here tonight and said, 'We're the underdogs, we could go home and people would probably say that this was pretty successful.' But they're not complacent, they're not happy; they want to keep playing, and they proved that. You put a game plan together, but if they don't play with heart and desire and enthusiasm, then they don't get a win. That shows us the group that we have here, they don't want this to end. They want to keep playing and they love playing for each other. It's a fun group right now to be a part of."
