And unlike yesterday, where the main goal was to get the players’ heart rates going after a day off, Friday’s objective was to hone in on details on both ends of the ice.
“[We worked on] a little bit of everything. Defensive and offensive touches. We did some teaching and got some good repetitions,” said head coach Martin St-Louis following practice.
Heading into Saturday’s contest against the Penguins, the Canadiens will want to make some adjustments to their game. They may have won their season-opener against the Toronto Maple Leafs, but it wasn’t a perfect game for St-Louis’ side – and that’s just fine, especially since it was the first game of the campaign following a shortened training camp.
“It was the first game of the year, and our fourth game [if you count the preseason]. [...] It wasn’t exactly a playoff pace, but there was a lot of hitting, the game was fast, everything was more intense. There was obviously going to be many mistakes. Overall, it wasn’t too bad, but we’ve got a lot of work to do, everyday” said forward Phillip Danault.
Some of the work at practice featured line drills during which Danault centered a line with Alexandre Texier and Kirby Dach. Take a look at the other lines and D pairings at the session.
