MONTREAL – There’s a reason why Cole Caufield has earned the nickname Mr. Saturday Night.

The 25-year-old winger scored two goals, including the game-winner on a breakaway in overtime, to give the Canadiens their second win over the Sabres at the Bell Centre on that very night.

Caufield seemingly likes to score against Buffalo too, having notched 11 goals in his last 10 outings against the Atlantic Division rival. Nick Suzuki, who got an assist on Zachary Bolduc’s game-opening goal, also enjoys facing the Sabres as he extended his point streak against them to 10 games.

Alexandre Texier registered his first tally of the season and completed the scoring for the Habs, while Jacob Fowler turned aside 23 shots. Alexandre Carrier and Juraj Slafkovsky also collected a pair of assists each.
