THIS WEEK'S NEWS, NOTES AND NUMBERS…
STAT OF THE WEEK: David Pastrnak is tied for second in the NHL in goals with 12 in just 16 games. That places the 20-year-old forward behind only Penguins forward Sidney Crosby (.93 GPG) in goals per game (.75 GPG). However, Pastrnak has also compiled a plus-12 rating - tied for fifth best in the NHL - compared to Crosby's plus-1 rating.
QUOTE OF THE WEEK: "I tried to weigh them down with a bunch of steak and had my wife going around with wine trying to slow them down that way too, but maybe we needed to keep them a little bit longer. They had good transportation planned to leave at nine so they could get a good night's rest, but I tried like crazy trying to slow them down and get that extra edge." - David Backeson having his former St. Louis Blues teammates over for dinner the night before their game.
TWEET OF THE WEEK (WEEK 11):@_TyAnderson (Ty Anderson, WEEI.com): Brad Marchand has now activated the cheat code that causes defenders to lose their gloves \and\ stick when he dekes around them.
HONORABLE MENTIONS:@PeteBlackburn (Pete Blackburn, FOX Sports): Conspiracy theory: David Backes gave former teammates food poisoning at his pre-Thanksgiving dinner. True Boston guy now
