BOSTON - The Boston Bruins announced today that forward Molly Griffin of Buckingham Browne & Nichols School and forward Anthony Messuri of Arlington High School are this year's recipients of the John Carlton Memorial Trophies.
The John Carlton Memorial Trophies are given annually by the Boston Bruins to the outstanding male and female student athletes in Massachusetts high school hockey or junior hockey. They are given to the high school seniors "who combine exceptional hockey skills with academic excellence." The annual awards are named in honor of the late Bruins scout and administrator who passed away in December 1982 after a long and dedicated affiliation at all levels of the game.
Griffin is the 22nd female student athlete to receive the award, while Messuri is the 38th male recipient. Both Griffin and Messuri were named to their school's Honor Roll this year.

Griffin finished her high school career as BB&N's second all-time leading scorer, posting 79 goals and 66 assists for 145 points over her five years playing varsity ice hockey. This season, she tallied 19 goals and 11 assists to help BB&N finish the season as the third-ranked team in New England with a program-best 22 wins. She plans to attend Northeastern University in the fall of 2020.
Messuri is the first male student athlete from a public high school to win the award since 1999. He served as captain of the undefeated Arlington High Spy Ponders in 2019-20, under the head coaching guidance of his dad, John Messuri. This season, Messuri totaled 14 goals and 23 assists for 37 points and was named to the Boston Globe and Boston Herald All-Scholastic Teams. Over his high school career, he has amassed 41 goals and 71 assists for 112 points. He plans to attend Northeastern University in the fall of 2021.
