Frontline Hero salute: David Wai

In games throughout the rest of the 2021 season, the Blue Jackets will be honoring Frontline Heroes for the work they've done during these most challenging of times.
David Wai, a Worthington native who has worked for OhioHealth for the past three years including the past nine months as pharmacy procurement manager, was recognized during last night's game against Carolina. Wai and his team have helped distribute 100,000 COVID-19 vaccines across the state, and he was presented with a blue CBJ helmet adorned with the OhioHealth logo during Thursday night's game.
Wai also took the time to fill out this questionnaire on his job responsibilities as well as his work during the pandemic.

Can you describe how your job has changed during the pandemic? I started this (specific) job early in the pandemic (June) and had no idea that I would be so involved in the vaccine rollout. Just as the government had Operation Warp Speed to produce and deliver vaccine, it was also 'warp speed' for vaccination providers like OhioHealth to develop plans to receive, store, redistribute and vaccinate patients. It has truly been an honor and great opportunity to work with so many people to make this a reality.
What is something you would like people to know about as it relates to the pandemic? This past winter was a tough season for everyone with COVID cases at all-time highs. I want to take a moment to thank healthcare workers, essential workers, restaurant workers, delivery drivers/postal workers and countless others that have had to work extra hours or shifts in order to keep the world spinning. This is the beginning of the end of the pandemic!
How do you unwind these days?We adopted a dog named Samson (Old English Sheepdog) that keeps me busy.
