Blue Jackets Goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky receives ESPY nomination

COLUMBUS, OHIO --- Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky is among five players to receive an ESPY nomination in the "Best NHL Player" category, the club announced today. Fans can vote now for the winner

In addition to Bobrovsky, the other nominees in the "Best NHL Player" category are: Sidney Crosby (Pittsburgh), Patrick Kane (Chicago), Connor McDavid (Edmonton) and Auston Matthews (Toronto).
The 2017 25th ESPY, hosted by Peyton Manning, will be televised live on ABC on Wednesday, July 12th at the Microsoft Theater in downtown Los Angeles. The flagship event is the one night where the sports world joins together to celebrate the best moments of the year.

Last week, Bobrovsky was awarded the Vezina Trophy as the NHL's top goaltender for the second time in his career as he also captured the honor following the 2012-13 campaign. In 2016-17, the First Team NHL All-Star posted a 41-17-5 record, 2.06 goals-against average, .931 save percentage and seven shutouts in 63 games, leading the NHL in GAA and SV%, while ranking third in wins and shutouts (tied).
Bobrovsky joined Montreal's Carey Price, who recorded 44 wins and a .933 SV% with the Canadiens in 2014-15, as the only goaltenders in NHL history to win 40 games and have a .930 SV% in the same season. He also won 14-straight games from November 29 to January 3, tying the second-longest winning streak in NHL history.
Bobrovsky's nomination is the second for a Blue Jackets player. In 2008, Rick Nash was nominated for his game-winning goal scored in the final seconds of a 4-3 win at Phoenix on January 17, 2008. Nash's goal was among four nominees for the "Best Play" of the year. The winning play was Eli Manning's pass to David Tyree for the New York Giants at Super Bowl XLII.
