The Chicago Blackhawks today announced that the team has agreed to terms with defenseman Ethan Del Mastro on a two-year contract ($950,000 salary cap hit). The contract will begin in the 2026-27 season and will run through the 2027-28 season.
Del Mastro, 23, competed in 19 games with the Blackhawks during the 2025-26 campaign, tallying one assist. He also recorded 18 points (2G, 16A) in 45 games with the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League (AHL) this season. He ranked third among Rockford defensemen with 16 assists and 18 points, while also sharing seventh among all club skaters in assists.
The 6-foot-4, 210-pound blueliner has compiled seven points (2G, 5A) in 45 career games with Chicago from 2024-26. He’s also appeared in 161 career regular-season AHL games with Rockford from 2023-26, totaling 64 points (9G, 55A). Additionally, Del Mastro has made two trips to the Calder Cup Playoffs with the IceHogs, logging four points (1G, 3A) in 11 games.
Internationally, the Burlington, Ontario native captured gold medals with Team Canada at the 2022 and 2023 IIHF World Junior Championships, compiling three assists in 13 games. He also won a gold medal with Team Canada at the 2021 IIHF U18 World Championship, notching two assists in seven games.
Del Mastro was originally selected by the Blackhawks in the fourth round (105th overall) of the 2021 NHL Draft.
