It's easier to make plays when the puck is on your stick and you have the puck more when you're playing defense. That's something Kahun understands and has embraced in Traverse City.
"I think I've done a lot with my defensive game," he said. "I try to be as quick as possible on the guys and I think I'm quick enough to make those plays and make it hard on (the opposing players)."
Despite being on the smaller side (5'11", 174 lbs), Kahun shows no aversion to positioning himself in the dirty areas.
"He's not intimidated by any bigger players," said Bernard. "He goes to the net and he's going to be an exciting guy to watch in training camp as the talent level rises as well."
What he can do at main camp is on Kahun's mind also. The first practice is Friday, Sept. 14 at MB Ice Arena in Chicago. It's what Kahun has been preparing for since his signing. However, he first wants to finish strong in Traverse City.
"I work hard every day and try to get the best out of me," he said. "I'm really excited for training camp, but first we have to finish here."
