Gallagher-Plekanec

Brendan Gallagher has only known Tomas Plekanec as a teammate, which made it hard for the Montreal Canadiens forward to bid him farewell Sunday.

Gallagher was among the members in the organization to bid farewell to Plekanec after he was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs for Kerby Rychel, Rinat Valiev and a second-round pick at the 2018 NHL Draft on Sunday.
Instagram from @bgally.11: Best of luck pleks! 981 games in a habs jersey is amazing. I Learned a lot from this guy. Really going to miss giving him advice and him clearly not listening to me.
Plekanec had played his entire 981-game NHL career with the Canadiens, and was Gallagher's teammate for each of his six seasons in the League. Geoff Molson, the Canadiens president, CEO and co-owner, also sent well-wishes to the longtime Montreal center.

Plekanec had a positive impact on the lives of longtime fans and players, but his reach was felt throughout the Canadiens locker room. Both Phillip Danault and Andrew Shaw, who joined the Canadiens after starting their careers with the Chicago Blackhawks, tweeted positive remarks after the trade.
